Dr. Denis “Chip” Simon, III has practiced endodontics in Baton Rouge since 1983. Chip was born in Baton Rouge in 1950. He graduated in 1972 from LSU, followed by completion of his D.D.S. degree from LSU School of Dentistry in 1976. Dr. Simon entered the U.S. Air Force, serving as a general dentist for two years, then entered endodontic residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston and received his Endodontic Certificate from Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio. After serving three years at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, he moved to Baton Rouge to be near LSU and those Fighting Tigers.
Dr. Simon is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics. He is past president of the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association (1987), the American Association of Endodontists (1997-1998), the Louisiana Dental Association (2004), and the American Association of Endodontists Foundation (2006-2009). He is a Fellow in the American College of Dentists, the International College of Dentists, and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Chip was selected as Alumnus of the Year at LSU School of Dentistry in 2005, Distinguished Service Award from the LDA in 2009, and the Edgar D. Coolidge Award winner from the American Association of Endodontists in 2011.
Chip is married to the former Aimee Gravois. They have three children, Denis Simon IV and wife Emily, Antoine and wife Erica, and Angelle. They are the proud grandparents of Sophie, Gardner, Lucy, Oliver, Jude, Abby, Isabel, and Braxton. His hobbies include attending and cheering for all LSU sports teams, an occasional round of golf, and hunting ducks with his fox hound red Labrador retrievers, Maebelle and Alex.
